News item : Investigation urged on OFW’s death in Bahrain, Bulatlat.com#sthash.oE2CwKlZ.dpuf
Three months passed since the demise
of Kathleen Ann Viray Ilagan, reported dead hanging herslf with a cord on the
bathroom door knob of the Philippine Embassy shelter for distressed OFWs by the
Philippine Embassy in Bahrain on the 12 April 2013. Kathleen, who was a 31-
year old OFW working as Pastry chef in Bahrain and a girl mother of 3 children.
Since her death, no light has been
shed on the questions by her family, friends
and co-OFWs around the globe. The fact that she was reported to have
hung herself on a waist-high door knob has raised much doubts. Her mother
expressed her doubts in a letter to the president of the Republic asking for
independent probe on the circumstances of the death of Kathleen remained
unanswered both by the Office of the President anjd the Philippine embassy in
Bahrain.
What was the truth? The silence from
Philippine authorities suggest a cover up. In the light of sex abuse scandals
in the Philippine embassies in Middle East, some OFWs fear she may have been a
victim. Her friends and family denies any serious problem that may cause herr
to commit suicide. According to her mother and sister, all she wanted was to go
home to her little ones. She has told them of her plans for the future,
something that one who plans to end own life would not do.
NOW PLEASE… WE WANT THE TRUTH! WE DEMAND
JUSTICE FOR OUR SISTER KATHLEEN!!!
