In normal sense, governments are instituted by the nation to
look after the interests of the nation, take care of the well being, security
of the populace, and ensure that justice prevail, etc.
But when a small group of people grab the power thru cunning
and manipulations and convert the institution of government into a corporate
management body, what will happen to the nation?
This what is actually happening in many countries, the Philippines
included. The government is run by a small group of moneyed or money-oriented
individuals who administers the government for profit and the citizens are reduced to mere clients or
costumers. The people becomes buyers of the services at exorbitant prices,
services which thay have already paid for with their taxes.
The interests of the people will be submerged under their
greed for profit, enriching the state and the already rich people who run the
government, the people gets poorer, the state will turn the armed forces into security
guards to protect the business interests of the state and justice looses its true meaning.
This is actually happening to the neoliberal state governed
by rich landowners and corporate capitalists in the Philippines.
Public services like health, power, water etc. are privatized
and converted into commodities to be sold at high prices to the people.
The AFP and PNP are there solely to protect the interests of
the big corporations and not of the nation, justice laying in agony under their
boots.
The people are squeezed dry of their lifeblood by the continuously increasing prices with their salaries remaining stagnant to a possible minimum to keep them barely alive so their government could continue to squeeze them.
Education is run by this giant corporation called the state,
and use education to condition the mind of the people to make the status quo
accept able as normal and nothing else could substitute it.
Dissent and protests are outlawed. Critics are tagged as
terrorists and communists that must be eradicated. The state becomes all-powerful
like the almighty god.
This is what happen when the state becomes a giant
corporation.
THIS IS THE TRUE STATE OF THE NATION, AND NO LOFTY-PHRASED SPEECHES
COULD MASK IT.
