Davao City – Typhoon Yolanda destroyed farms and several properties including eleven schools and five government buildings in Dinagat Island Province in Caraga Region.
The Caraga Region Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) reported that around P 1.5-milllion worth of crops were damaged in the province, including rice, cassava, sweet potato, corn, banana and mango.
Properties were also damaged such as eleven schools whose roofs and ceilings were destroyed by strong winds which PAGASA said traveled up to 200 kph.
Storm signal no. 4 was rasied in Dinagat Island, prompting the RDRRMC to take pre-emptive evacuation of 2,518 families.
Some 378 Houses were partially damaged and 31 were totally damaged in four municipalities.
Two bridges in the province were reportedly washed out and another was reported not passable.
The local electric company announced that power is lost as power lines were toppled, and will resume after two days.
The RDRRMC said it is continuing relief operations for the residents.
