Davao City – No casualties from Typhoon Yolanda were reported in Maribojoc, Bohol one of the towns hit hard by the recent earthquake. Storm signal no. 2 was raised on Bohol last Thursday.
According to Bagani Evasco, son of Mayor Leoncio Evasco and one of the coordinators in responding to the typhoon, no casualties were reported, including those living in tents as rehabilitation of houses are still underway.
Evasco said some residents were evacuated to the municipal hall, marketplaces or schools were rooms were still intact and safe.
Those who stayed out were placed on A-type tents that he said blocked strong winds and rain from entering inside.
Evasco said winds went up to 108 kilometers per hour on Friday noon along with rain. But the winds subsided in the afternoon.
He said Maribojoc has lost power since the typhoon came, and they are now relying on solar-powered generators and other generator sets, and are offering residents with cellphone charging in the municipal hall. Evasco said power will be fully restored in a week.
