From Philstar Opinion column:Filipino people in prayer  http://www.philstar.com/opinion/2014/01/19/1280432/filipino-people-prayer

President Aquino has declared that Monday, Jan. 20 will be a National Day of Prayer and Solidarity with the theme “One Nation in Prayer.” It seems that the declaration was inspired by the events after the destruction caused by Typhoon Yolanda.

This is a somewhat misleading declaration. In the first place, he is known to be cahoots to those vclass of people who invokes their god-money ‘por dies, porciento’ instead of the more common por Dios, por Santo. Now, no one could really claim to be saints, something like that. Almost all of us pray, most of the times, away from the altar. We pray in an unobstrusive corner and close our mind from anything else because we are talking to our Almighty Creator. We don’t trumpet it around.

I question the president’s moral right to tell us when to pray. We pray when we feel deep within us that we have to have a conversation with our Lord. Not when a president, known to be a patron of corruption and injustice tell us to pray.

In the second place, does anybody believe that his prayers will results to a miraculous turn of events in our country? For one a few moments ago, his mouthpiece declared that the NPA is not ready for peace talks. Now, may I ask lur dear president, is your administration ready to talk peace? The actions of your regime this recent months indficates it is otherwise. It is a shame that a lowly OFW will tell you that your three years has brought only hardship and poverty and misery to the people. It is the basic reason why we, the workers has to leave. We have to migrate to find remedy for the grinding problem of finding a job with enough salary to give our family a decent life. We cannot live on your brags that our economy is so great that you are even enticing foreign workers to take the jobs in the Philippines.

Your economic growth has never reached the people.  It was felt only by your Kaibigan, Kaeskwela and Kamaganak. We can only watch while your kind is enjoying the fruits of our sacrifices abroad. You do not want to control the spiraling price because it is your class that benefits on it. You do not want to raise the working man’s salary because it be less money for your class.

No, Mr. BS Aquino III. You cannot pull our legs anymore again with your BS!
