JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN : A puzzling story.

JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN : A puzzling story.

The contradictions regarding the death of Kathleen Ann Viray Ilagan remains a puzzle.  Soon after her death, her family received a telephone call from an unknown person saying “be calm, Kathleen has just died”. The caller did not identify himself simply telling them those words and that it is the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain that is informing them. Their call to Bahrain Embassy was unanswered. They were informed later that their kin was suffering from a depression and has committed suicide . The papers that accompanied Kathleen’s body does include an authopsy and no police report. Just a medical report and and a death certificate.

The family was not satisfied. They have been informed that Kathleen committed suicide by hanging herself with a piece of cord on the doorknob of the bathroom of the shelter within the premises of the Embassy.

The doorknob in the embassy shelter bathroon where Kathleen has allegedly hang herself

Now, that was very strange. Only an extremely desperate person could kill himself by hanging himself on a doorknob of about a waist-high. It is against the natural instinct of self-preservation.

The kins of Kathleen does believe the suicide allegations by the embassy. In her recent telephone calls, she expects to be back home again, to her three children. She told them of her plans for a future work in Canada, about her savings, and has given the down payment for a house. These are not signs of a person depressed enough to commit suicide in this very ridiculous way.

And to make it worst, the Embassy in Bahrain does not give any comment to enlighten them on Kathleen’s death. The silence made them more suspicious that something is being hidden from them by the embassy people.

Kathleen’s family is begging for the truth. Begging for justice if her death was caused by something ontoward. And the embassy who claimed Kathleen was in a safe ground in the embassy premises was of no help.

When will the truth surface? Will justice remain a mere mirage for Kathleen and her bereaved family?
