MANILA - A 28-year-old Filipina model died after she was allegedly beaten up by her American husband.
Aiko Baniqued Moore was rushed to the Makati Medical Center on Wednesday night but was declared dead by attending physicians.

The suspect, Aiko's husband of four years, James Edward Moore II, aka Jim Moore, was held by security guards of Rockwell Amorsolo West.

Anna, a best friend of Mrs. Moore, said in a phone interview with ABS-CBN that Aiko confided to her that she was frequently beaten up by her husband.

The latest incident was around 4 p.m. Wednesday at unit 4-G of Rockwell Amorsolo West condominium, where the Moores resided.

Anna said the victim's niece, Cristina Rose, and Marvin Sunga, personal assistant of the victim, said that they saw the suspect beating up his wife by banging her head on the wall. He then handcuffed her.

The witnesses were able free to Aiko, but her husband was able to catch up with her near the condominium elevator. They said Mrs. Moore's head was allegedly smashed by the suspect.

Responding security personnel of Rockwell Amorsolo West condominium responded and called up an ambulance for the victim.

Moore allegedly tried to escape by running towards their condominium unit. He also allegedly tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat.

Makati police brought the suspect to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment of a neck injury.

As of writing, police are still investigating the case while the suspect is confined and under guard at Ospital ng Makati.
