Release | Support the workers of NXP! Global Day of Action - May 26
Dear Friends at KMU International and NXP workers!
This is just to let you know that the international delegates who attended the recent counter-event to the GMFD in Stockholm, Sweden, held May 13-15, 2014, organized by the International MIgrants Alliance (IMA), signed and endorsed the support statement to the workers of NXP, and support the NXP workers' demands namely: Reinstate the 24 laid-off workers! Resume negotiations for a CBA in NXP! Implement a significant wage hike! Regularize contractual workers!
Among those who signed and endorsed the statement supporting the NXP workers are Ms. Eni Lestari from Hongkong, chairperson of the IMA, Ms. Luz Jaramillo from Italy, chairperson of IMA Europe section, and member of the IMA-International Coordinating Body, and Mr. Garry Martinez, chairperson of Migrante International and IMA-ICB member.
The Stockholm counter-event was held to further expose the myth on migration for development being peddled by the GFMD and to push forward the people's alternative agenda to the UN Millenium Development Goals (MDG) of government, states and big business.
The international delegates came from Austria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Hongkong, Senegal, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, UK, Philippines, Taiwan and Sweden.
The IMA Europe secretariat will release a communique soon on the results of the successful counter-event.
Grace Punongbayan
IMA Europe Secretariat
