Interior secretary Mar Roxas put forward several proposal to prevent crimes inside malls similar to the jewelry heist at the SM City North EDSA mall. This include the regulated sale of hammers, crowbars, and similar objects. "The proposal is, if you want to buy hammers, crowbars, or other similar objects, you get a claim stub.Claiming [will be done] outside mall premises," Roxas said at a press briefing on Tuesday, December 17. Other proposals include giving breaks to security personnel so they do not tire easily and can remain alert. There are no leads yet as to who robbed the SM mall but police are investigating 3 groups and the possibility that the robbers are ask linked to another robbery in SM Megamall earlier this year.
