Price and value

The great Oscar Wilde has given us a food for our nowadays starving soul when he said “ Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”

Oscar Wilde, Poet, writer and philosopher
Those are not the  empty daily rhetorics we hear or read. I gives a definition of the attitues of many politicians, men in business, capitalists et al as compared to what they considered as minors or lowly in the society we moving.

But first of all, we have to have cognizance of what is behind these words.
According to Warren Buffet, an American business magnate, Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

We could see the relationships between price and value. We have paid (trust through our our votes) for the people to run our government who in return will give values  to our expectations of good governance, growth and progess through improved services. The question here is, are we getting  the worth of our choice of men to govern us, from the president down to the barangay level.

If we understand the gist of what we read from the news or seen in tvcasts, itv was proven that with the pork barrel system,  we have been shortcashed by the people whom we have given our trust. We have the right to be angry, even to cry ‘murder’ for the betrayal of our trust. What happened is comparable to the negative impact of Einstein genius that hast led to the Hiroshima bomb instead of becoming a boon to human progress.

I is all happening because we have not reached the true meaning of price and value. We see the price of what we buy without seeing its value. As a people, we have yet to grow more politically. Both for the voters and voted to reach political maturity by removing money as the price and value of good governance.

It is now high time for a genuine change in our socio-political values.

ABOLISH THE PORK BARREL!!!
