New item: Philippines appeals as Filipina set to be executed in China  http://zeenews.india.com/news/world/philippines-appeals-as-filipina-set-to-be-executed-in-china_858199.html

A 35-year-old Filipina woman who had been sentenced to death for drug trafficking, but she was expected to be killed within days. She was one of two Filipinos arrested for smuggling over 12 kilogrammes of high-grade heroine into China in 2011,

Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez told the press "President Benigno S. Aquino III has written a letter of appeal to Chinese President Xi Jinping requesting a commutation of the death sentence, Her family has already been informed of the Supreme (People's) Court's decision and they request that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time," The Pres. Benigno C. Aquino's letter was delivered to Chinese diplomats on Thursday, but the execution was still expected to be carried out between tomorrow and Tuesday next week.

The Filipino male companion caught with her had also been handed a death penalty. However it came with a two-year reprieve, which means the sentence can be commuted.

It could be remembered that in March 2011, China executed three Filipino drug mules despite repeated pleas by the Philippine government and the Catholic church.

Molre than 10% of the Philippine population are working abroad and most of them in need financial difficulties are targets of drug traffickers as mules to sneak the illegal merchandise into several countries China among them. Some of the drug mules do it willingly, but many have been tricked to do it unknowingly.

This could be be another incident that could mar the already stormy relationships between Philippines and China.

Booz Allen Hamilton: What You Don't Know About Snowden's Former Employer

Booz Allen Hamilton: What You Don't Know About Snowden's Former Employer

Lost in the Edward Snowden debate is a critical look at his former employer, the company doing the spying on Americans in the first place: Booz Allen Hamilton.

Booz Allen Hamilton is a government contractor, with 99% of its revenue coming from the US government. Not only does it receive money from the NSA, but also the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and ... the IRS. In addition, Booz Allen is heavily connected to the CIA.

Among the individuals involved in running the company, we have:

James Clapper - current Director of National Intelligence (DNI), head of NSA, the man who lied to Congress about the fact that NSA is actively spying on Americans, is a former executive

Mike McConnell - a current executive of the company, had Clapper's job (DNI) during George W. Bush's administration (keep it in the family, eh?) -- he worked for Booz Allen before Bush, then worked for Bush, then back to Booz Allen after Bush

James Woolsey - former CIA Director, current executive (see Jan Helfeld's interview of Mr. Woolsey where it becomes clear that Woolsey has no interest in discussing principles, only war)

Melissa Hathaway - former executive, also worked for McConnell during the Bush administration

Ian Brzezinski - former executive, son of Zbigniew Brzezinski, co-founder of the Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller, central figure in the NWO crowd, and mastermind of Operation Cyclone

Dov Zakheim - this character is ... unbelievable:

1993 - His company, System Planning Corporation, had a subsidiary called Tridata Corporation, which was the company that "oversaw" the investigation of the 1993 WTC bombing

2000 - Part of the neocon Project for a New American Century, he is co-author of "Rebuilding America's Defenses," in which he is credited with the infamous line, "... some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor."

2001 - He is appointed Comptroller of the Pentagon, in which $2.3 trillion promptly goes "missing"

2001 - Attack on 9/11 occurs; some people are suspicious of his connections, since his company, SPC, in involved in flight systems capable of remote controlling aircraft, and because he was the guy who leased 32 Boeing 767 aircraft to McDill Air Force Base (2 of the 9/11 aircraft were 767's), and McDill is close to Elgin AFB, which was the location that was to be used if Operation Northwoods had gone live

2004 - Goes to work for Booz Allen Hamilton.

2012 - Advisor on Middle East policy for Mitt Romney campaign (gee ... ya think Romney would have gone to war in the Middle East???)

Booz Allen Hamilton is owned by the Carlyle Group.

One of the big investors in the Carlyle Group was the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia. Yeah ... THAT Bin Laden family. And instrumental in being the "go between" for Carlyle/Bin Laden was a guy by the name of George H. W. Bush. Maybe you've heard of him?

The CEO of the Carlyle Group (remember, they OWN Booz Allen Hamilton) is Frank Carlucci. Mr. Carlucci has quite a resume:

Nixon Administration - Director of the Office for Economic Opportunity (the "War on Poverty" -- and a great place to decide who gets government contracts)

Carter Administration - Deputy Director of the CIA

Reagan Administration - National Security Advisor and Secretary of Defense (Donald Rumsfeld is Carlucci's protoge)

He is or has been with the Project for a New American Century and a member of the Board of Trustees for the RAND Corporation, a CIA front that develops policies that the Military Industrial Complex then carries out.
You want a NWO guy? Carlucci is your man. And CEO of Carlyle Group, owner of Booz Allen Hamilton, spying on YOU.

At RAND, his specialty was Middle East policy. What do you know? That was also the specialty of Graham Fuller, CIA guy who was the father-in-law of Ruslan Tsarni, uncle of Tamarlan Tsarnev, suspected Boston bomber.

Speaking of the Boston bombing and Tamarlan Tsarnev, he had a couple of trips to Russia that made the news. But what did not make the news (in America, but it did in Russia) is that he went there for "training" that was funded by the Jamestown Foundation. And what do you know? The Jamestown Foundation (CIA front) has among its past board members none other than Dick Cheney and Marcia Carlucci, wife of Frank Carlucci.

See my post here about the CIA connections to the Boston bombing:

Given all their connections and government contracts, here's an interesting question: Booz Allen Hamilton has not only been involved in spying via the NSA, but they have also received no-bid contracts from the IRS. What do they know about the American people via the IRS?

Now, one of the things you will start to see if you look around at some of the big corporations these days is that many of them are involved in what they call "corporate citizenship" or something similar. What this means at the surface level is they are being "good citizens" by donating to charity. But when you go beyond the surface, you will see something else going on.

Booz Allen Hamilton donates money to the Clinton Global Initiative. The CGI is a part of the Clinton Foundation (yeah, THAT Clinton).

The Clinton Foundation has been implicated in bribery on an international level. Clinton gave himself a special little privilege while president wherein he exempted the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation from the normal rules of disclosure regarding publicly listing who its contributors were. It's a secret foundation. And it has over $200 million in assets now. And is alleged to be used as a way to funnel black money from corrupt governments around the world for behind-the-scenes deals like special oil contracts, arms dealing, US government foreign aid deals, whatever.

So folks, what you are not being told in the media about Edward Snowden's former company is that it is not only spying on you, but it is probably checking out your tax returns, too, and also receiving some of your tax money in government contracts, which it then funnels to CIA-connected/Military Industrial Complex-connected/NWO-connected individuals and organizations.

Something like this: Your tax money (taken from you by force) -> IRS -> Booz Allen Hamilton -> Clinton Foundation -> foreign bribes -> more contracts for the Military Industrial Complex -> more spending by foreign governments -> more foreign aid from the US government -> more US government spending -> more taxes needed -> more taxes from YOU.

Oh ... and they are spying on you, too.

But Edward Snowden ... yeah HE is the bad guy here. Uh huh ... move along ... nothing to see here.

JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN – Grieving mother’s appeal to the president unanswered, eerie silence from Bahrain P

JUSTICE FOR KATHLEEN – Grieving mother’s appeal to the president unanswered, eerie silence from Bahrain PE

Kathleen Ann Ilagan Viray, was a 31 year old mother of 3 children and was a pastry chef working in Bahrain has  committed suicide on April 8 2013 according to the report of the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain. She left her job early in April and reported to the rmbassy to seek protection.

Kathleen Ann’s mother  Helena Virginia C. Viray wrote to President B. Aquino last May 27 2013, asking him to intervene on the case of the death of her daughter.and urge the Phil Embassy in Bahrain to clear to them some questions. The appeal was not replied todate.

The Embassy in Bahrain maintained their silence and refused to answer the query from the the deceased Kathleen’s mother. They even admonished the concerned groups and individuals who are following the case to respect the embassy’s silence on the case.

The family and friends of Kathleen, of course, are not satisfied. They have questions to be asked to arrive at the truth.

The separate letters from the embassy to the DFA and DOLE contains contrasting dates of the day of Kathleen’s reporting to the embassy requesting for protection. This has to be clarified.

Who was the medical person who diagnosed and certified that the deceased was suffering fron depression and what medication has been effected. There has been no informations regarding this.

Where is the report of the authopsy effected by Bahraini authorities. Why was this not forwarded to the family.

Unless the Bahrain PE keep their silence, the friends family of Ksyhleen, and the Filipino overseas communities will remain dubious of the Bahrain PE’s sincerity and keep questioning (justly or not) the embassy’s integrity to protect the interests of the Filipino nationals in that country. The family and friends will keep suspecting that the embassy is hiding the truth to cover something ontowards against the embassy. And the family of Kathleen and the Filipino overseas community will keep demanding for justice for Kathleen.

LET THE TRUTH OUT, DID KATHLEEN COMMITED SUICIDE OR WAS KILLED???

      LET JUSTICE BE SERVED!!!

      Why privatization…

      Why privatization…

Privatization of hospitals, electricity, water and other public services. Is it being done by the Philippine government, surely not for the benefit of the people who are suffering  as the result of it, but for whom and why?

The main and direct benificiaries of privatization of public services are the private corporations of the capitalists who dominate the government. They reap giant profits from these services that were formerly run by the government, both local and national. The government has yielded the operations of these public service utilities not to economize on the costs of operations, but because of the dictate of corporate capitalists and because the majority of the government officials were supported financially by, or asre wealthy capitalists. And because the national president himself is protecting the interests of his family who are big landlord and compradors.

As long as the government is possessed by the dynasties of the oligarchs, there will be no change in the exdploitative system  that flagellate the people. The few  wealthy not only remain rich, but will get richer and the poor which is the majority will remain poor and get poorer.

As a clear illustration of the greed of these capitalist private corporation is the increases made by the Water firms of Manila, who included by the their own income tax to the costs being paid by the people. They have made the subscriber pay for the taxes supposed to be paid by the Maynilad and Manila Water that amounts to billions of peso. Such profits they make at the expense of the people!

The privatizations of public service utlilities in the Philippines must stop. The control of these services must be returned to the public! The finance of the private corporations who were authorize3d by the government must be examined for excesses!

      DOWN WITH THE PRIVATIZATIONS!!!

CONDEMN THE CORRUPT DEPARTMENTS AND BUREAUS OF THE GOVERNMENT WHO CONDONEDTHE PRIVATIZATIONS!!!

RETURN THE POWER TO THE SOVEREIGN PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES!!!

There's a New Fascism on the Rise, and the NSA Leaks Show Us What It Looks Like

      AlterNet / By John Pilger

There's a New Fascism on the Rise, and the NSA Leaks Show Us What It Looks Like

The power of truth-tellers like Edward Snowden is that they dispel a whole mythology carefully constructed by the corporate cinema, the corporate academy and the corporate media.June 21, 2013  |

      ---------------------------------------------------
In his book, Propaganda, published in 1928, Edward Bernays wrote: "The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country."

The American nephew of Sigmund Freud, Bernays invented the term "public relations" as a euphemism for state propaganda. He warned that an enduring threat to the invisible government was the truth-teller and an enlightened public.

In 1971, whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg leaked US government files known as The Pentagon Papers, revealing that the invasion of Vietnam was based on systematic lying. Four years later, Frank Church conducted sensational hearings in the US Senate: one of the last flickers of American democracy. These laid bare the full extent of the invisible government: the domestic spying and subversion and warmongering by intelligence and "security" agencies and the backing they received from big business and the media, both conservative and liberal.

Speaking about the National Security Agency (NSA), Senator Church said: "I know that the capacity that there is to make tyranny in America, and we must see to it that this agency and all agencies that possess this technology operate within the law … so that we never cross over that abyss. That is the abyss from which there is no return."

On 11 June, following the revelations in the Guardian by NSA contractor Edward Snowden, Daniel Ellsberg wrote that the US had now "that abyss".

Snowden’s revelation that Washington has used Google, Facebook, Apple and other giants of consumer technology to spy on almost everyone, is further evidence of modern form of fascism – that is the "abyss". Having nurtured old-fashioned fascists around the world – from Latin America to Africa and Indonesia – the genie has risen at home. Understanding this is as important as understanding the criminal abuse of technology.

Fred Branfman, who exposed the "secret" destruction of tiny Laos by the US Air Force in the 1960s and 70s, provides an answer to those who still wonder how a liberal African-American president, a professor of constitutional law, can command such lawlessness. "Under Mr. Obama," he wrote for AlterNet, "no president has done more to create the infrastructure for a possible future police state." Why? Because Obama, like George W Bush, understands that his role is not to indulge those who voted for him but to expand "the most powerful institution in the history of the world, one that has killed, wounded or made homeless well over 20 million human beings, mostly civilians, since 1962."

In the new American cyber-power, only the revolving doors have changed. The director of Google Ideas, Jared Cohen, was adviser to Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state in the Bush administration who lied that Saddam Hussein could attack the US with nuclear weapons. Cohen and Google’s executive chairman, Eric Schmidt – they met in the ruins of Iraq – have co-authored a book, The New Digital Age, endorsed as visionary by the former CIA director Michael Hayden and the war criminals Henry Kissinger and Tony Blair. The authors make no mention of the Prism spying program, revealed by Edward Snowden, that provides the NSA access to all of us who use Google.

Control and dominance are the two words that make sense of this. These are exercised by political, economic and military designs, of which mass surveillance is an essential part, but also by insinuating propaganda in the public consciousness. This was Edward Bernays’s point. His two most successful PR campaigns were convincing Americans they should go to war in 1917 and persuading women to smoke in public; cigarettes were "torches of freedom" that would hasten women’s liberation.

It is in popular culture that the fraudulent "ideal" of America as morally superior, a "leader of the free world", has been most effective. Yet, even during Hollywood’s most jingoistic periods there were exceptional films, like those of the exile Stanley Kubrick, and adventurous European films would have US distributors. These days, there is no Kubrick, no Strangelove, and the US market is almost closed to foreign films.

When I showed my own film, The War on Democracy, to a major, liberally-minded US distributor, I was handed a laundry list of changes required, to "ensure the movie is acceptable". His memorable sop to me was: "OK, maybe we could drop in Sean Penn as narrator. Would that satisfy you?" Lately, Katherine Bigelow’s torture-apologizing Zero Dark Thirtyand Alex Gibney’s We Steal Secrets, a cinematic hatchet job on Julian Assange, were made with generous backing by Universal Studios, whose parent company until recently was General Electric. GE manufactures weapons, components for fighter aircraft and advance surveillance technology. The company also has lucrative interests in "liberated" Iraq.

The power of truth-tellers like Bradley Manning, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden is that they dispel a whole mythology carefully constructed by the corporate cinema, the corporate academy and the corporate media. WikiLeaks is especially dangerous because it provides truth-tellers with a means to get the truth out. This was achieved by Collateral Damage, the cockpit video of an US Apache helicopter allegedly leaked by Bradley Manning. The impact of this one video marked Manning and Assange for state vengeance. Here were US airmen murdering journalists and maiming children in a Baghdad street, clearly enjoying it, and describing their atrocity as "nice". Yet, in one vital sense, they did not get away with it; we are witnesses now, and the rest is up to us.#

John Pilger, renowned investigative journalist and documentary film-maker, is one of only two to have twice won British journalism's top award; his documentaries have won academy awards in both the UK and the US.
